Genesis

The genesis of JobStrap occurred when I realized there was a an immediate social venture opportunity right under my nose. This opportunity became visible as an outcome of:

  1. My attendance at “Entrepreneur Town Hall Meeting: The meeting was to explore ways to support the success of entrepreneurs. It was held at IC2 Institute on March 3rd, 2008 in Austin, Texas. Two hours later the event was coming to a close yet a topic that was a critical unmet need hadn’t been presented. I interjected, and put forth this topic at the very end of the town hall meeting. The responses by event participants validated the importance of this topic. As an outcome of my participation, I set a few appointments with participants who had been vocal in voicing their agreement and their interest in this topic. That following week, we extended our conversation on this topic. Two weeks after the event, I had another shift in my thinking. I realized that I had a mission to fulfill. On Saturday, March 29th, I named my mission, purchased domain names, and designed the first iteration of its corporate ID. JobStrap was launched into the heavens.
  2. My personal employment context and entrepreneurial challenges.
  3. Realization that I was an expert and highly qualified to lead and fulfill the JobStrap mission: There is an extraordinarily level of alignment in my: skill sets, expertise, knowledge, credentials, and life experience.

JobStrap’s Mandates

JobStrap has three mandates fulfill; to create:

  • An American business culture that eagerly employs bootstrapping entrepreneurs who are self-funding a startup.
  • Employment for bootstrappers that is optimized to each bootstrapper’s unique context: The four major components of a bootstrapper’s context are (i) monetary, (ii) time allocation, (iii) private life, and (iv) startup requirements. Based on each bootstrapper’s unique context, JobStrap optimizes and aligns employment to a bootstrapper needs so that he/she is neither under-employed, unemployed, or over-employed.
  • A structure of accountability for each bootstrapper that delivers startup milestones reliably and with velocity.
